The Torlonia Collection. Masterpieces of Roman Sculpture
The exhibition is accompanied by a bilingual catalogue (French and English) published in 2026 by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Edited by Mary-Dailey Desmarais, Zhao-Ionescu Chief Curator at the MMFA, together with Laura Vigo, Curator of Asian Art and Archaeology at the MMFA, the publication traces the history of the Torlonia family and the formation of their extraordinary collection. Through scholarly essays and detailed entries on the works exhibited, the catalogue explores the artistic, historical and social significance of these sculptures and the craftsmanship behind them, offering further insight into the legacy of one of the most important private collections of Roman sculpture in the world. The catalogue is available at the Museum Boutique and Bookstore.
